Ingredients

  • 0.75 cup Plain flour

  • 0.25 tsp Bicarbonate of soda

  • 0.25 tsp Baking Powder

  • 0.25 tsp Salt

  • 0.33 cup Brown sugar

  • 0.33 cup Castor Sugar

  • 0.75 cup Oats

  • 100 gram Chocolate chips or sultanas

  • Extra Ingredients Required to Make Cookies

  • 125 gram Butter- melted

  • 1 number Egg-lightly beaten

  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Directions

  • Sift the flour, baking powder, bicarb and salt into a bowl.
  • Mix well with a whisk and spoon mixture into a 650ml capacity jar.
  • Carefully spoon on top the brown sugar, then the caster sugar, then the oats – lastly the chocolate chips/sultanas.
  • Seal the jar and decorate as desired.
  • To make the cookies:
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  • Line two baking trays with baking paper.
  • Empty the jar into a bowl and stir in the butter, egg and vanilla.
  • Stir until combined – make tablespoon sized balls and place on the baking trays.
  • Bake for 12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
  • Cool on a wire rack.

    I made these as Teacher’s gifts last year for Christmas. Instead of chocolate chips I used the Christmas M & M’s (red & green) . I have heard that craisens look great too. They were a huge hit, the teachers still tell me what a nice gift it was 🙂
