Medication Used to Stop the Production of Breast Milk is Being Recalled

A medication, APO-Cabergoline, used by women who just gave birth to assist in drying up breast milk has been recalled because of a packaging issue that may affect the drug.

Apotex Pty Ltd is recalling one batch of the APO-Cabergoline 500mcg tablets,�which can also�be used by women to treat abnormally high levels of prolactin.

The company said that the drying agent on the packaging of these tablets may�not protect the product from moisture throughout its shelf life. It added that failure to protect the tablets�from moisture could�degrade the product over time which may affect its�effectiveness.

The�batch of the product being recalled�has the number�MK0903, with the expiry date February 2017, which can be found on the bottle label or underneath the carton,

The company urges consumers who purchased the product to return it to the pharmacy where it was bought for a refund or a replacement product,�or contact Apotex Medical Information on 1800 195 055.
