Hold your horses! We’re giving you a list of cold alternatives for a hot Christmas pudding!
Cold Christmas desserts are my favourite! When it’s over 40 degrees on Christmas Day – the last thing I want is a hot Christmas Pudding.
I find making cold desserts is a better option, and best of all – because they are cold or frozen – most of these can be made in advance!
1. Frozen Christmas Pudding
This is a good Christmas Pudding for our usual hot Christmas Days that we have. It looks classy and tastes divine!
For the Christmas Pudding traditionalist, with a bit of a cold twist. Has all the taste of a Christmas Pudding, without the heat. Plus you can make it a few weeks in advance!

2. Traditional Pavlova Recipe
Nothing says Aussie Christmas like pavlova! This is my Nan’s traditional pavlova recipe which is meant to be foolproof. I think pav’s are hard to make (just quietly) but my husband loves them to death so thank you Nan! And if you don’t want to cook a pavlova from scratch, there are some delicious pre-made versions out there. My fav is the Vanilla Bean Pavlova from Woolworths! Yum!

3. Strawberry Tiramisu
This is a very ‘transportable’ dessert that can be made in just about anything! Layers of strawberries, cream and chocolate – yum!!!!

5. Christmas Trifle
Christmas trifle makes another great substitution for the hot Christmas Pudding! They are super easy to make and are best made at least the day before so the sherry or port has a chance to really infiltrate the cake! This recipe is a simplified version of the traditional trifle!

10. Jelly Whip
Also known as Flummery, Jelly Whip is a rich fun dessert for the whole family! The great thing about this two-ingredient Jelly Whip recipe is that it can easily feed a family of four for only $4! So cheap! It is simple to make just make sure you put the evaporated milk in the fridge overnight! The texture is somewhere between thick cream and bubble gum hard to explain. Just beware if you choose a really sweet jelly flavour the sweetness of the dish can get a little overwhelming (ie bubblegum!)
