Savoury Brown Rice makes a wonderful accompaniment to most dishes! It is so much better for you than traditional white rice and has a delicious nutty flavour not unlike Quinoa.
There is a bit of a trick to get it right – and we are sharing that with you today!

Ingredients
2 cups Brown rice-uncooked
4 cups Beef, vegetable or chicken stock
1 tbsp Butter
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- Add the rice to a sieve or colander and wash it well under a running tap. When the water runs clean, add the rice to a large pot and cover with water.
- Allow it to sit for 30 – 45 minutes.
- Drain the water and discard.
- Add the stock to the rice and place on low heat.
- Simmer for 30 – 45 minute until the rice is lovely and tender and has absorbed all the stock. Take off the heat.
- Add the butter and salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.
