Changing your relationship status is probably the first step that you’ll make on Facebook after you break up. But, there is a way to do it discreetly so you don’t add to your plate of drama. When you edit your profile and your relationship status, before you hit save, there is a drop down box where you can choose who you’re sharing this information with. If you select “Only Me” your updated relationship status won’t show up on anyone else’s feed. This means you won’t need to get into explaining your breakup online, which is good for everyone.

Tip #2:Unfriend The Ex

The decision to sever ties with your ex can seem like a big one, but it really is a necessary part of moving on in your personal life. Unfriending your ex on Facebook is the first step here, and one that you should be making early on after the breakup. Getting them off your friend list makes it easy for you to keep them out of mind, avoid cyberstalking them when you’re feeling lonely, reduce your online dramas and stop you from comparing yourself to them. Overall, it’s just a really good idea, and you should definitely do it.
