Ingredients

  • 2 Garlic cloves

  • 1000 gram Red potato-or similar waxy variety

  • 220 millilitre Thickened cream

  • 0.25 cup Cheddar cheese-grated

  • 0.25 cup Mozzarella cheese-grated

  • 0.25 cup Parmesan cheese-grated

  • 1 dash salt and black pepper-to taste

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 160 degrees and lightly grease a casserole dish of around 2L in capacity. You can do this with butter or a cooking spray.
  • Cut potatoes thinly into slices, and set aside. Mix all the cheeses in a single bowl. Grate or mince the garlic. You’re now ready to assemble.
  • Arrange the potato over the base of the dish, overlapping slightly, in a single layer. Spread some cream on the top, and then a quarter of the cheeses along with salt, pepper and garlic. Repeat to make 2-3 more layers, finishing with a layer of grated cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5+ hours or until the top of the gratin is golden and the potato is tender. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before serving.
