They are sweet and buttery with a crisp outside. They are perfect to use with cookie cutters then decorated with royal icing.

Ingredients
185 gram Butter
1 cup Caster Sugar
1 number Egg
1 number Egg yolk-(extra)
2 tsp Vanilla extract
2.5 cups Flour
1 tsp Custard powder
Directions
- Beat together the butter, vanilla extract and caster sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the plain flour, custard powder, egg yolk and egg and mix until the dough is combined.
- Lightly knead the dough and wrap in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for half an hour.
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
- Roll out the dough (it’s easier to roll it out between two pieces of baking paper) until nice and thin.
- Use cooking cutters to cut out the required shapes.
- Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 10 minutes or until golden.
- Decorate as desired! These also make great Christmas gifts!

- Christmas Sugar Cookies dough is suitable to freeze for up to two months. Roll into a ball or log and cover with plastic wrap.
