Let’s all be honest, we probably never really thought about buying baby wipes until we had children.
But now… we just can’t live without them, am I right? Most of us here are parents, and a lot of us have baby wipes. These are sooooo handy! Even though my children haven’t worn nappies for a long time, I still carry baby wipes in my bag for when we eat out of the house, to wipe grotty hands, to wipe up a mess.
But did you know they have so many more uses aside from wiping baby stains? Here are some amazing uses for baby wipes!
Cleaning Uses
- Great to remove fresh crayon or biro off walls.
- Fantastic to polish your chrome taps in the kitchen and bathroom.
- Baby wipes will blot up coffee spills from lounge suites or carpet if you get to it quickly.
- Great for wiping off the grease from your hands on your computer keyboard.
- Some of the fabric brands of baby wipes (like Huggies for instance) can be washed after use, and can be used as a duster or swiffer to pick up dust. Only reuse it if they weren’t used for something too nasty beforehand of course (that’s just gross!).
- Great for wiping over the dashboard and other surfaces in your car to get rid of scuffs and dust.
- Good for wiping down dusty leaves of indoor plants.
- Find your shoes are really dusty or dirty? Grab out a baby wipe – they clean, and shine shoes just beautifully!
- Clean dolls’ faces with a baby wipe!
- Wipe down the kids’ black chalkboards.
- Remove deodorant stains from clothing.
- Remove other stains off clothes.
Beauty Uses
- If it’s a hot day and your makeup is melted and you’re not near a bathroom, baby wipes are PERFECT for freshening up and removing the offending makeup, particularly mascara.
- Baby wipes are great for easing sunburn until you can get some aloe vera cream. Just apply the wipes to the area for some instant relief.
- Great for removing hair dye residue on your forehead or neck when dyeing your own hair.
- Remove excess nail polish on your fingertips.
Hygiene Uses
- Substitute for paper towels.
- Wipe your hands when they get dirty and there’s no comfort room around the area to wash them.
- Wipe oil off on your face to freshen up when you’re outside.
- Remove sweat off your body.
- Great for when you have a cold or flu to use on your nose instead of tissues – so much softer and nicer on your skin!

Other Uses
- Wipe down your pets to remove stray pet hairs.
- Use a baby wipe to moisten stamps and envelope glue instead of having to lick them!

Thanks for the tips. I was actually carrying around a small packet of Wet Ones for the sticky fingers, but then realised, everytime we eat at KFC or Barnacle Bill, we get overloaded with more sachets of wipes. Now, I just throw a few into my bag and off I go. I actually used one today to clean some melted chocolate off the cover of my Palm Organiser. I didn’t think it would work, but was quite impressed with the result
Thanks so much for this!!
I also use baby wipes for anything and everything!! My favourite use is for wiping fly screens on your windows and doors. It cleans them so easily and quickly…it also leaves a little fresh smell in the room as the breeze blows through the mesh that still has the wipes scent on it. 🙂
I bought a new car a month ago and you can imagine how upset I was the next day coming out to find a bat had done its business on the bonnet. We all know the damage that stuff can do the paint job. I took it through the car wash but it barely made a difference, so I used my emergency wipes that I always keep in the glove box. It took a little elbow grease but it all came off.
Talking of make-up, it’s also great for removing it off clothes. When my mum was clothes shopping she wanted to buy a top but there was only one left the sales rack but it was covered in a lipstick or foundation stain. The retail assistant told her the trick was baby wipes – the cheaper and wetter the better (ie ones you buy in the dollar shops) as they have more lanolin. She cleaned it off and you couldn’t even notice – then threw in a further little discount. Mum carries a pack around with her everywhere now – probably more because she looks after 5 grandchildren so we can go to work 🙂
They are also perfect for cleaning handbags (obviously depending on the fabric), even my daughter’s school bag comes up a treat.
I am awaiting my first but friends have told me that it makes for a great stain remover off carpets when the kids get a little older and eat saucy substances and spill it.
Absolutely! I use them for so many things!
I use my wipes to wipe down the kitchen benches every day, not as my proper clean, but my clean-in-between! Also handy for wiping clean whiteboards after a study session!
On the way to my wedding ceremony I looked down at my dress to notice the florists hadn’t taken the middle of the lilliums out and I had a nice big brown mark on my dress- right on my breast! My mum and I were so upset (my mum has grown lilliums for years and would constantly remind us to be careful because they stain) luckily, the flower girls mum was in the car behind us and had baby wipes with her- we dabbed at the stain and you could hardly notice it after that- saved the day!!!
Great to have on hand when camping to clean your feet before getting into bed, especially when the ground is either dusty or muddy!!!
Oh! I would never have thought that baby wipes have such a versatile use, I simply use it for what it is “meant for”, clean baby and wipe hands .
