This Family Taco Salad is super in demand!

Taco night in our family is hugely popular so we try and mix it up every now and then. One of the family’s fave is this taco salad bowl. Making your own taco seasoning is also a great thing to do! Its so simple and you avoid all the fillers and preservatives that are put in the store bought ones!!!

A hearty, flavorful taco-inspired salad with seasoned beef or beans, fresh veggies, cheese, and crunchy tortilla strips. Perfect for a quick family meal that’s both satisfying and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Chili powder

  • 1/4 tsp Garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp Onion powder

  • 1/4 tsp Oregano

  • 1/2 tsp Paprika

  • 1.5 tsp Ground Cumin

  • 2 tsp salt and pepper

  • 1/2 cups Water

  • .5 kg Beef mince

  • 1 Brown onion (finely diced)

  • 1 tbsp Olive oil

  • 1 can Corn kernels (400 grams)

  • 4 cups Corn chips

  • 1 Iceberg lettuce

  • 3 Tomatoes

  • 1 cup Grated Cheese

  • 1 Kidney beans (410 grams)

  • Topping to Serve

  • 2 tbsp Sour cream

  • 1/2 cups Coriander leaves

Directions

  • Method:
  • Heat frypan on medium heat. Add olive oil.
  • Add the beef mince and onion and brown.  Add all spices.  Mix well.
  • Add water and simmer on low for 5 minutes.
  • In a big salad bowl toss through lettuce, tomato, kidney beans and corn kernels.
  • Add the cooked mince to the prepared salad.
  • Top with sour cream, coriander and serve.
