Mum Left Hospitalised After Breaking Her Neck After Sneezing | Stay at Home Mum

A motherwas left unable to move after sneezing that caused her neck to break, twice.

Five years ago, Monique Jefferies, from Melbourne, reportedly suffered a partial dislocation of her C1 and C2 vertebrae after sneezing. Sheunderwent surgery to have a halo brace fused to her skull for 14 weeks.

As a result, Mrs Jefferies was forced to move home to Hobart where her mother cared for her and her then nine-month old son, Thomas, while her husband, Sam remained in Melbourne for work.

Thankfully, Mrs Jefferies recovered fully, suffering only slight neck pain.

However, last month, she reportedly laughed (while talking about the time she broke her neck when she sneezed)…..and her neck broke again.

‘We were just making some jokes and whatnot about my neck because it’s pretty funny about it happening the first time. And I kind of threw my head back in laughter and it went straight away,’ Mrs Jeffries said in a recent interview with Channel 9’sA Current Affair.

She was rushed to hospital where it wasconfirmed that Mrs Jefferies had broken her neck exactly the same way as five years earlier.

Mrs Jefferies’ sister, Alira Jackson, has started a GoFundMe campaign to pay for further treatment and to help support the family.
