Super Simple Raspberry Jam

Delicious homemade raspberry jam in a glass jar with fresh raspberries and mint leaves. Perfect for.

There are still raspberries floating around in farmers markets and in some shopping centres as summer comes to a close, making now a pretty good time to get started on making jam. The fruit you get now might not be absolutely perfect, but it’s guaranteed to be a bit cheaper than during the peak of the season.

This Super Simple Raspberry Jam recipe makes a really quick and simple raspberry jam. You could try and use frozen raspberries of course, but we haven’t attempted it. Alternatively consider cutting the jam with diced strawberries, so you can halve the number of raspberries you use.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Raspberries

  • 0.75 cup Granulated sugar

Directions

  • In a medium-sized saucepan add the raspberries (rinsing them first is a good idea) and the sugar. Turn the heat on a medium temperature.
  • Mash the raspberries up with a spoon to break them up, and stir the broken up berries in with the sugar, but only a little.
  • The raspberries will start to break down under the heat and you don’t want to stir too much. Instead wait until they break down of their own accord, stirring occasionally. While this is happening the syrup from the sugar will be thickening. Once it’s thick, remove from the heat, seeing that it should stick to the back of your spoon. This will take between 20 – 25 minutes.
  • Pour the mixture, which is now jam, into a clean and sterilised jar and allow to cool before putting in the fridge.
