The smell of this, while it simmers and the slow cooker does its work, is mouthwatering. If you’re a fan of spicy food, you’ll definitely love it as well!

Ingredients

  • 1 kg Beef tenderloin or steak part

  • 1/4 cups Cornflour

  • 2 tsp Ginger grated

  • 4 Garlic chopped or crushed

  • 1/2 cups Brown Sugar

  • 1/2 cups Soy Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Oyster Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil

  • 2 tbsp Chilli flakes or cayenne pepper ***do not add if you don’t want it spicy

  • 1 Shallots to garnish

Directions

  • Cut beef across the grain into 1cm slices and coat in cornflour. Then, add it to the slow cooker bowl.
  • In a jug or similar container, mix together ginger, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar, oyster sauce, and chilli (optional, remove if you do not want spicy), then add oil.
  • Cook on high for 4 hours, stirring once after one hour, and again on the 3-hour mark.
  • Leave some of the chilli to garnish if you prefer. Or you can add the chilli on the 3 hours and 30 minutes mark.
  • Serve on top of hot or warm rice then garnish with shallots. Perfect for lunch boxes!
  • If you want to add veggies to this, add chopped carrots (optional) on the 3-hour mark.
