Rissoles or Meatloaf?! Same mixture – two different meals!

This classic recipe comes straight from Mum’s kitchen – her pride and joy – and now it’s finally getting the spotlight it deserves (you’re welcome, Mum!).

It’s the ultimate Aussie comfort food: simple, satisfying, and wonderfully adaptable.

Whether you shape it into juicy, pan-fried rissoles or bake it into a golden, tender meatloaf, this versatile mince mix is a guaranteed hit with the whole family.

Made with budget-friendly ingredients you probably already have on hand, it’s the kind of recipe you’ll turn to again and again – for weeknight dinners, school lunches, or even meal prepping. A versatile recipe that works as meat patties or a full meatloaf.

Ingredients

  • 500 gram Mince beef

  • 1 Onion -finely diced

  • 1 Egg

  • 1/2 packet French Onion Soup Mix

  • 1/2 cup Flour-omit flour for meat loaf

Directions

  • Mix all ingredients together (except the flour).
  • For the rissoles, grab a small handful of mince and shape into a pattie, roll in the flour, refrigerate for 1/2 hour before cooking (so the flour doesn’t come off in the pan.
  • Pan fry until cooked through and golden.
  • For the meatloaf, mix all ingredients together, place in a greased loaf tin – and bake at 180 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.

Notes

  • Rissoles or Meatloaf is suitable to freeze for up to four months.
  • You can also make ‘Meatloaf Muffins’ by spraying a muffin tin and 3/4 filling the hole.
  • You can also add some grated vegies of your choice to make it healthier ie carrots, zucchini etc.
  • Use Chicken or Pork Mince for something a little different.

    THANK YOU,THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!…….My Husband works away and i always looking for different things to make him to take….I made this last night and he really liked it…we have now made it part of his weekly meals 🙂 so again thank you….i even put carrot and Zucchini in it and he loved it :)…..It was also a hit with the kids 🙂

    add spice to those balls with a off the shelf meat marinade. Just a spoonful or two added to the mix gives them extra flavour and zest 🙂
