Shepherd’s Pie

Delicious homemade shepherd's pie with seasoned ground meat, vegetables, and mashed potato topping.

Shepherd’s Pie, a quintessential British dish, is a heartwarming comfort food that has been enjoyed for generations. This savory pie is traditionally made with minced lamb, which is where it gets its name – a “shepherd” would logically use lamb.

Unlike its cousin, the Cottage Pie, which is made with beef, the classic Shepherd’s Pie offers a rich, meaty filling topped with a creamy layer of mashed potatoes.

Shepherd’s Pie is a testament to the beauty of simple, hearty cooking.

It showcases how a few humble ingredients can come together to create a dish that is both comforting and delicious. It is not surprising how it has become an all-time family favourite with its soft potatoey top and its succulent meat middle.

Whether enjoyed on a cold winter evening or as a family favorite, Shepherd’s Pie remains a timeless classic that warms both the heart and soul.

Tastes great on its own, but to add a bit of flare to your meal you can add a colourful salad on the side.

I only have liquid stock, will this work?

Yes you could use the liquid stock and just omit the extra 3/4 cup of water.
