Ingredients

  • 500 gram Mince beef

  • 1 Brown onion-diced finely

  • 1 tsp Garlic-crushed

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 tsp Dried mixed herbs

  • 2 tins crushed Tomatoes

  • 2 cups Macaroni noodles

  • 1.5 cups Cheese-grated

  • Topping (optional)
  • 125 gram Cherry tomatoes-half a punnet

  • 12 Basil leaves

  • 3 Rosemary-3 sprigs

Directions

  • Heat a frypan to medium heat and fry the diced onion and garlic until soft.
  • Add the 500 grams of beef mince and brown well.
  • Once the mince is browned, add the Worcestershire sauce, herbs and the two tins of crushed tomatoes.
  • Reduce the heat and allow to simmer for 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.
  • Meanwhile boil the macaroni in a large pot of salted boiling water until just tender. Drain well.
  • In a large baking dish, spoon a layer of the mince mixture, then top with the noodles.
  • Spoon the remaining mince mixture on top.
  • Sprinkle with grated cheese and bake for 15 minutes at 180 degrees or until the cheese is starting to brown.

Notes

  • Cheesy Beef and Macaroni Bake is suitable to freeze for up to three months.
  • It can be kept covered in the fridge for up to four days.
  • For something different, pop the mix into a pie, and top with pastry for a Cheesy Beef and Macaroni Pie.
  • Beef Mince can be substituted for pork mince, turkey mince or chicken mince.

      I didn’t drain the tomatoes. It provided liquid for the pasta to cook. Was very nice.

    Or you can also put a white cheesey sauce on top and hide lots of veges in this also , definatly a fav in our house
