Freezing Instructions

This spaghetti bolognese sauce freezes extremely well.

Allow the sauce to cool completely before freezing. Once cooled, transfer it into a zip-lock freezer bag or airtight container. Leave a little space in the container as the sauce will expand when frozen.

To use, simply defrost in the microwave or overnight in the fridge, heat through in a saucepan and serve with freshly cooked pasta.

This makes it a fantastic make-ahead family meal.

It can be made cheaper by omitting the meat.
Simple sautée Onion and garlic until soft, add a large tin of diced tomatoes (Coles brand $1.50) and let simmer slowly for a couple if hours. You may need to add a little water as it’s simmering if it reduces to much. You can still add herbs, salt and brown sugar.
I add olives if I have them and I make my own garlic flat bread to go with it.
Plain flour, yeast, salt, a little castor sugar and warm water will make bread. Cut into how many portions you want, roll it out and bake with a little garlic in olive oil (I buy minced garlic). 5min each side in a 180 degree oven.
Cheaper than buying store bought garlic bread.
