Tim Tam Balls

Tim tam balls | stay at home mum

Place my balls in your mouth! My Tim Tam Balls!

Tim Tam Balls are a decadent combination of cream cheese mixed with various flavours of Tim Tam Biscuits. They make a nice change from Traditional Rum Balls. They are like a Toblerone Cheesecake but in bite size – and you won’t be able to stop at just one!

Best of all – you can make these delicious balls in bulk and freeze them in zip lock bags.? They freeze really well – and in fact are delicious when you steal just one out of the freezer and pop it straight in your mouth.

Ingredients

  • 400g Tim Tams

  • 250g Cream Cheese (softened, room temperature)

  • 1/2 cup Shredded Coconut (can exchange with Crushed Peanuts)

Directions

  • In a food processor blend the  Tim Tams until smooth.
  • Add the cream cheese and process until just combined (don’t over-process).
  • Refrigerate the mixture for 30 minutes or so before rolling into teaspoon-sized balls then roll in shredded coconut (or crushed nuts if you prefer).
  • The Tim Tam Balls can be served straight away or popped in the fridge to harden slightly

Notes

How many balls does this recipe make using 2packets of tim tams and a full block of philly?

These sound delish! What is the best brand of the cream cheese to use? Like phillidelphia?

I make these slightly differently by dipping them in melted chocolate after refrigerating the rolled balls of Tim tam and cream cheese. So good dipped in choc then pop back in fridge to set. And again can use any variation of biscuit and melted choc 🙂

For Christmas these are great ; cover in dark chocolate, then drip white choc on top & decorate with red & green candies to look like little Christmas puddings

Hi there! I have just done a quick google search to look at the type of biscuits sold in South Africa I believe the Romany Creams or Choc Kits could have a similar turn out. Tim tams are chocolate coated wafer style biscuits if you know of any biscuit similar to that! Hope this helps! 🙂

Where are you based in South Africa, Marie? Tim Tams are available in most Checkers, PnP, and even at Dischem. Google Tim Tams so you can see what the packaging looks like, which might make it easier to find. Cape Cookies have also brought out a new biscuit, Meerkat, which almost looks like Tim Tams, but I haven’t tried them yet, so not sure if they also have a wafer type layer.

Have your say!
