Tommee Tippee Recalls Its Dummies Due to Choking Hazard

Tommee Tippee has recalled its range of dummies across Australia due to choking fears.

The company said that the recall was�initiated�by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) on August 12.

It pulled out the�popular Tommee Tippee Super Soft Child Comforters for children aged 12 months+ from shelves across the country.

In a statement, the ACCC said: “In the event that a child takes the whole comforter into their mouth, the shield and teat size combination may allow the comforter to get positioned in the back of the mouth…If the comforter is taken into the back of the mouth in a certain position, it may pose a risk of choking.”

The company said in its website that�since the relaunch of the product, it has received feedback from some parents that the shield was smaller than before, and decided to conduct a full investigation.

The company has apologised for the inconvenience this will cause but assured that it will redesign the dummies with a larger shield to make sure it meets with the mandatory Australian safety standards.

The dummies causing concern were sold in packs of three at Coles, Woolworths, Big W and many pharmacies nationwide between May 1 to June�2016, and are marked with SKU 270145, and one of the following batch codes: 09116JC, 08516JC, or 12316JC.

Parents are advised�to stop using the product immediately.�The company says the dummies may�be returned to them for a full refund or replacement.
