Mum Claims “Getting Pregnant Healed My Chronic Migraines”

A mother has claimed that her chronic migraines were cured after she became pregnant.

Mum, Kate C. Thompson has shared on the Love What Matters Facebook page how her doctor’s suggestion that she try getting pregnant helped her overcome her chronic and debilitating migraines.

In the post, Ms Thompson told about how her hemiplegic migraines left her with “everyday pain or serious neurological symptoms”, forcing her to try different treatments, including Botox, nerve blocks and narcotics.

Ms Thompson said that when doctors suggested the idea of getting pregnant, claiming the resulting hormones would help “reset” her body and stop the migraines, she and her husband were unsure, but nevertheless decided to give it a try.

Then, suddenly, Ms Thompson said that her pain ceased late last year, prompting her to take a pregnancy test. Sure enough, the results came up positive.

“At seven months pregnant and still pain free the doctor gave us more good news: I probably wouldn’t have another migraine again,” Ms Thompson wrote.

Ms Thompson gave birth to twin girls and said that two months on after the birth, she remains pain free, crediting her “magical unicorn babies” with helping her get her life back on track.

“I no longer need a wheelchair for activities outside my home. I no longer have painful twitches in my arms, legs and head.

“Next week I will celebrate 300 days in a row pain free,” she wrote.

The post has gone viral with more than 83,000 reactions and over 5,400 shares.

Fox News reported that medical studies have found that higher levels of oestrogen triggered by pregnancy can both increase or completely diminish migraine symptoms.
