Mother and Son Fight for Their Incestuous Relationship

A mother and son who reconnected after being separated for 19 years, but became sexually attracted to one another, are facingjail for their incestuous relationship.

In Clovis, Mexico, Monica Mares, 36, and her 19-year-old sonCalebPeterson are proud of their love for each otherthat they are fighting to stay intheir sexual relationship, even if they could be imprisoned after facing charges of incest.

Monica was only 16 when she had Caleb and he gave him up for adoption when he was an infant. After 19 years, the mother-of-nine met her son again for the first time aroundChristmas last year. She got in touch with himover Facebook. He moved in and they fell in love.

The pair tried to keep their sexual relationship a secret, but then Monica’s otherchildren and other people found out. She said it took time before their relationship was accepted.

“A lot of other mums don’t understand, they are not going through what I’m going through. I didn’t raise him for 19 years, it feels like a new person and love coming back into my life after all of these years. It feels like he’s my man. I feel like more than his lover,” Monica told the Daily Mail.

However, she said thattheir relationship has been difficult because they have been attacked bytheir community. Caleb’s fathereven walked out on his son when he found out about the affair.

Police saidthat a neighbour confronted the pairabout their incestuous relationship in front of the house where Caleblived. When the police arrived, the pairadmitted to officers they were sexually involved and they were arrested.

Incest between a mother and son is a crime in almost all 50 US states, the UK and Australia.

The pair have been ordered to stay away from each other before a trial in September. If found guilty, they could be sent to prison for up to 18 months.

Termed ‘Genetic Sexual Attraction’ (GSA), the phenomenon of siblings and adult parents/children having true love feelingswith one another is believed to happen inabout half of thereunions between siblings or parents and children, which result in obsessive feelings although most ofthese feelings are not acted upon.

Despite the difficulties, Monica says she will fight for their love, even saying that she would give up the right to see her other children if she was asked to choose between them and Caleb.

She said that they want to raise awareness about GSA and fight the incest charges to stay together and make their love acceptable, adding that if she goes to prison, and is then released, she will move to a state that allows and accepts her unorthodox relationship with son.
