Coffee Shop Owner Swamped with Support After Nappy-Changing Mum’s Scathing Review

Baby being changed on a changing table during a diaper change.

A coffee shop owner was flooded with support online after responding to a scathing reviewfrom a mother whochanged her baby’s nappy twice at a table while people were eating at the coffee shop.

Owner, Jocelyn Ridgway said that she didn’t mind if the customer, a mum from Brisbane, never returned.”I know in my heart that that was not cool. It’s an etiquette thing. She won’t be back as a customer, that’s fine. I can’t afford to have customers like her anyway,” she said.

The mumhad lefta scathing review on Google about Ms Ridgway’s coffee shop, Park Bench Espresso Bar in Bulimba, narrating how she was treated after she changed the dirty nappy of her 12-week-old baby in front of diners.

Shefirst praised thequality of the coffee, before taking aim at MsRidgway and other customers. She wrote:

Supportive mother and coffee shop owner after a critical review.

Ms Ridgway then responded to the review.

The store’s Google reviews have grownto almost 40 with manycriticising the mum, with one saying:”5 stars for not backing down when you were challenged by the lady with the dirty nappy! I would be disgusted if someone changed a nappy while I ate.”

Ms Ridgway told AAP the mother was at the coffee shop for two hours last Friday.”She was there that long the baby did two poos,” shesaid, adding that she already received complaints from a groupof older women.

Since Ms Ridgway shared the review on Facebook with friends, she’s said she’s had nothing but support.
