A 12-year-old girl has posted a powerful online petition against bullying that has attracted thousands of signatures.
Tayla Sekhmet, a student at�Dysart State High School in central Queensland, north east of Rockhampton, says her school life is like a ‘living hell’ and that she is ‘the most unpopular kid at school’, which makes her prone to bullying.
Because of this, she started a petition through change.org, saying:
“School bullying is killing me. Please, please help me.”
Tayla said that since she started going to the school, she had been bullied. She said she even told her teachers and tried to make friends, but to no avail.
“People call me fatso, weirdo, ugly, freak and tell me I should kill myself…Even people in other grades who I don’t know do these things to me too…I’ve been told to just ignore these people, but I can’t take it anymore.�I don’t know what else to do or where else to go for help.” she wrote.
Tayla’s mother, Kali helped her make the online petition. The pair�wanted to take the signatures to the school and local government to stop bullying from happening.
Tayla�wants to show the school that bullying is not okay and that a lot of ‘other people want to take a stand against bullying.�”Dysart State High School should do more to protect students like me so our education doesn’t have to be hell,” Tayla said.
In a Fairfax report, Tayla said she had some friends at school but one day they just turned on her. “They aren’t my friends anymore, they bullied me too… They did something really nasty to me…�That day I felt like jumping in front of a car, I hope they know exactly how that hurt,” she said.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted the principal of Dysart State High School for comment.
Tayla’s petition has now earned more than 43,000 signatures.
