10 Things Siri Can Do (That You Didn’t Know About)

6. Post Straight To Facebook

Sometimes, I just don’t have time to scroll in the newsfeed and be distracted before posting a status on Facebook. I have things to say! Now, Siri takes away the middleman by posting direct to Facebook from the personal assistant. Just say “Post a status to Facebook” and if all your settings are in place on your phone, you can spell it out and let Siri do the rest.

7. Open Apps And Settings Direct

In fact, Siri is really good at getting into the little nooks and crannies of your phone with ease. Have too many apps and can never find the right one? Just ask Siri to bring it up. Prompt her by saying “Play Fruit Ninja” or “Open Instagram”. Siri can also read out your emails (within the Apple Mail app), take notes directly, and take photographs. Just prompt her, and she’ll get it done. My favourite part of this is that Siri can take you to the settings page you need. Just say “Turn on Wifi” or “Open Privacy Settings” and it’s done in seconds.

8. Check Facts For You

Remember, Siri is connected to the internet, so there really isn’t anything she doesn’t know. That means that if you’ve got a question, she is either able to figure it out directly, or can send you along to the right page. This includes everything from conversions (i.e. How many grams in an ounce?), to movie ratings on recent films (i.e. Was Boyhood a good movie?), to biographical information (i.e. Who is Morgan Freeman?).

9. Find That Song

Shazam was the app we’d been waiting for, and we’ve all used it to find out just what that song is we heard on the radio. Well, now Siri is integrated with Shazam, and it’s even faster than before. Instead of having to open up the app in your phone, just ask Siri “What song is this?” and let her listen a while. She’ll give you the answer.

10. Wake You From A Nap

I’m a major napper, but as we know from before my maths skills are lacking. Usually I have to time my naps to make sure I’m getting at least 40 minutes, but setting alarms is such a hassle. Now I just let Siri do it for me by telling her “Wake me in 40 minutes”. She sets the alarm, and I sleep freely.

Bonus: Entertain You

Of course, personal assistants shouldn’t just get things done, they should entertain! This is especially true if they’re electronic slaves that live in our phones. If you’re looking for a laugh, why not try asking Siri little gems like “What is the meaning of life?”, “What is the answer to the Universe?” and “When will the world end?”. You can also ask her to “Talk dirty to me” and to “Sing me a song”. There’s a whole world of entertainment!

What hasSiri done for you lately?
