“I’m beyond furious. I think it is despicable they picked on Stephanie.[Stephanie] has no concept of how to put money on, she just knows to touch on or off her Myki,” she said.

Ms Maceysaid thatStephanie was upset after being asked by theticket inspector to provide details of her home address. She also said that the Myki card her daughter used had enough funds as it wastopped up fortnightly.

Public Transport Victoriaexecutive director of customer experience Alan Fedda admitted it was a mistake and has since apologised for the fine.He said that PTV will launch an investigation on the incident and the fine would be revoked, pending a review.

Ms Macey, who had been intending to appeal the fine, accepted PTV’s apology.
