Mashed Potato is a staple in my household. It’s tasty, delicious and fills up hungry tummies. But, if your’re sick of the same old bland version, here are some ways to jazz it up a little.

Ingredients
- Basic Mashed Potato
4 Potatoes
1 tbsp Butter
0.5 cup Milk
0.25 tsp Salt
- Cheesy Mashed Potato
4 Potatoes
0.5 cup Milk
2 tbsp Cheddar Cheese Spread
- Mashed Potato with Onion and Chives
4 Potatoes
0.5 cup Milk
1 Onion-finely diced
1 tsp Chives-diced
- Mashed Potato and Pumpkin
2 Potato
350 gram Pumpkin
1 tbsp Butter
0.25 tsp Salt
- Cauliflower Mash
1 Cauliflower
3 tbsp Milk
2 tbsp Light Sour Cream
1 tbsp Butter
0.25 tsp Salt
Directions
- Basic Mashed Potato
- Peel the unwashed potatoes and wash well under running tap water
- Chop into quarters (no smaller) and place in large pot of boiling water
- Boil for 20 minutes or until a sharp knife splits the potato quarters in half when inserted
- Drain and leave in the warm pot.
- Add the butter and hot milk (hot milk makes it creamy, cold milk will make it gluggy) and mash well.
- Cheesy Mashed Potato
- Peel the unwashed potatoes and wash well under running tap water.
- Chop into quarters (no smaller) and place in large pot of boiling water.
- Boil for 20 minutes or until a sharp knife splits the potato quarters in half when inserted.
- Drain and leave in the warm pot. Ad

- Add the butter, onion, chives and hot milk (hot milk makes it creamy, cold milk will make it gluggy) and mash well.
- Mashed Potato and Pumpkin
- Peel the unwashed potatoes and wash well under running tap water.
- Chop into quarters (no smaller) and place in large pot of boiling water.
- Peel the skin from the pumpkin and de-seed.
- Chop into large pieces and add to the pot.
- Boil for 20 minutes or until a sharp knife splits the potato quarters in half when inserted.
- Drain and leave in the warm pot.
- Add the butter and hot milk and mash well. Goes a lovely light orange colour!
- Cauliflower Mash
- Steam the cauliflower until very tender.
- Drain very well and return to the hot pan.
- Add the milk, butter and sour cream and mash until it reaches a potato like consistency.
- Don’t over mash or it will go very gluggy! Serve hot.
Notes
- Mashed Potato of any version is not suitable to freeze.
- Serve immediately.
