They might be convenient, but packaged foods and drinks are always more expensive, with almost no exceptions bar them being heavily reduced. When it comes to snack foods, making foods yourself is always cheaper, with simple homemade desserts often pricing up at just a few bucks for a large number of servings, compared to a few bucks for each serving. As for drinks, you’ll be doing everyone in your family a favour by opting for water. It’s not just cheaper, it’s healthier too.

8. Buy When It’s Cheap, In Bulk

If something is cheap, and you know you’re going to use it, buy as much as you can. This is true for flour, rice, and other staples, as well as vegetables like pumpkins. Veggies can be baked en masse, pureed and then frozen for use down the line!
