Ham, pear and Parmesan salad is a classic combination of flavours that will have your family asking for seconds. This delectable dish comes together quickly with just a few ingredients. Start by lightly seasoning the ham slices before frying them over medium heat; once they are golden brown and crispy, set them aside to cool.

Peel and dice two pears into medium-sized cubes then toss in a bowl with 3 tablespoons of freshly-shaved Parmesan cheese and 4 teaspoons of white wine vinegar. Add the crisp ham to the bowl, season with sea salt and black pepper to taste, then drizzle in extra virgin olive oil until its all evenly distributed.

Serve chilled or at room temperature for an easy but delicious delight that’s sure to be a hit at your next meal!

A fresh salad with ham, sweet pears, and shaved Parmesan. Elegant, balanced, and perfect as a light meal or side.

Ingredients

  • 8 thick slices of ham

  • 1 bag Rocket (50g)-trimmed

  • 1 bag baby spinach

  • 1/2 number Parmesan-shaved

  • 1/3 cup Walnuts

  • 2 tbsp Chives-fresh, chopped

  • 1 Pear

  • Dressing
  • 4 tbsp Olive oil

  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar

  • 1 pepper and salt-to taste

Directions

  • Peel, quarter and core the pears. Cut each quarter lengthways into four slices then set aside.
  • In a small bowl, place the olive oil and vinegar, then add some salt and pepper. Whisk lightly. Set the dressing aside.
  • In a separate bowl, place the rocket and spinach, chives, walnut, parmesan, and sliced pears into the bowl. Season lightly with salt and black pepper then mix and toss gently.
  • Drizzle the dressing, over the salad and add some parmesan on top.
  • Serve with the thick ham steaks.
