5 Minute French Toast

Delicious 5-minute French toast served with fresh strawberries and syrup, perfect for a quick breakf.

I make this recipe at least once a week when I feel like a hot lunch – even though technically it is a breakfast food.  This recipe can use slightly stale (not mouldy) bread – so it is a good way to use up a loaf that has been sitting around for a day or two.

Now this recipe can be served savoury or sweet.  Personally I love it with just a bit of salt and pepper on top – but most people drizzle syrup and add fruit.  Totally your call.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Bread, cut into halves

  • 1 medium Egg

  • 1 tbsp Milk

  • 1 tsp Butter (to cook the bread in)

Directions

  • How to Make 5 Minute French Toast:
  • Cut the two slices in bread diagonally (to make four triangles).
  • Heat a frypan on medium heat and add the teaspoon of butter until it is bubbling.
  • In a shallow bowl, add the egg and milk and whisk together really well.
  • Dunk the bread slices into the egg mixture, ensuring it is totally saturated – then turn the bread over and soak it again.
  • Pop straight into the bubbling butter then cook until browned on both sides.
  • Serve hot with syrup.
