Ingredients
0.75 cup Plain flour
0.25 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
0.25 tsp Baking Powder
0.25 tsp Salt
0.33 cup Brown sugar
0.33 cup Castor Sugar
0.75 cup Oats
100 gram Chocolate chips or sultanas
Extra Ingredients Required to Make Cookies
125 gram Butter- melted
1 number Egg-lightly beaten
1 tsp Vanilla extract
Directions
- Sift the flour, baking powder, bicarb and salt into a bowl.
- Mix well with a whisk and spoon mixture into a 650ml capacity jar.
- Carefully spoon on top the brown sugar, then the caster sugar, then the oats – lastly the chocolate chips/sultanas.
- Seal the jar and decorate as desired.
- To make the cookies:
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Line two baking trays with baking paper.
- Empty the jar into a bowl and stir in the butter, egg and vanilla.
- Stir until combined – make tablespoon sized balls and place on the baking trays.
- Bake for 12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.
- Cool on a wire rack.

I made these as Teacher’s gifts last year for Christmas. Instead of chocolate chips I used the Christmas M & M’s (red & green) . I have heard that craisens look great too. They were a huge hit, the teachers still tell me what a nice gift it was 🙂
