Hard boiled eggs, as long as your doctor has confirmed, are a good finger food for little ones past a certain age. Make sure they’re hard boiled, then just peel and cut them for your bubba.

Steamed vegetables are probably one of the best finger foods for your child. They’re super healthy, packed with essential nutrients and vitamins, and very yummy. Try them on things like broccoli, carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato, potato, cauliflower and more, just steamed and well cooled.

It’s often hard to know what meat to start kids on, as it tends to require more chewing. We recommend lean and small pieces of chicken off the bone to start with, and make sure you supervise!

Toast is the ultimate finger food for little hands! You can cut it into soldiers for your exploring eaters to gnaw on, or spread toppings like vegemite and jam thinly for more flavour. Experiment with different breads as well, so you aren’t locking yourself into white bread for life!

Pikelets are super easy to make, and are quite a good finger food for little ones. They’re a great alternative to pancakes as they cool much faster and are easy to carry around whole. Serve plain or with a bit of jam or honey on top.

Yoghurt

Babies can eat yoghurt from about six months, but you’ll find as they get older they’ll want to feed themselves. This will start with yoghurt everywhere, but it’s a great food (so long as it’s natural greek yoghurt) so persevere! Remember, stay away from the processed kind with added fruits, which are full of sugar.

Porridge

Porridge, like yoghurt, is a super messy food that you’ll most likely want your adventurous eater to avoid at all costs. But believe us, it is worth cleaning up as it’s super fulling and full of goodness your growing bub needs.
