Elizabeth Adeney was in her mid-sixties when she realised that she was desperate to have her first child, and was willing to do anything to make it happen.

In fact, she travelled to Ukraine in order to have her IVF treatments as her husband (whom she later divorced) was not willing to be involved in her pregnancy. Despite this setback, all ended well for Elizabeth when in early 2009 she gave birth to a son named Jolyon and set the record as Britain’s oldest mother.
