Teenager Rescued After Being Trapped Under Tree Branch Amid Thunderstorms in QLD

Rescue team assists teenager trapped under tree branch amid thunderstorms in Queensland.

Three people were injured, including a 13-year-old boy, who was trapped under a falling tree branch, amid�damaging thunderstorms across south-east Queensland yesterday.

Thousands of�homes experienced massive power outages�and three people — a teenager, a young girl and a woman in her 50’s — were among those injured in strong thunderstorms that hit the region.

The 13-year-old boy was walking home from school when a large tree branch snapped�and trapped him in Forest Lake.�Paramedics, doctors and firefighters worked to stabilise him while he remained conscious throughout the rescue. He was transported to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.

Another young girl was also trapped under the branch but suffered only very minor injuries.

Queensland Ambulance tweeted�about a woman in her 50’s who was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition after the pole she was holding was struck by lightning just before 3.30pm (AEST).

The Bureau of Meteorology said that even after the storms eased in the Brisbane area last night,�they are still closely monitoring the situation.

No warnings are currently in place, although more storms are expected over the next few days.
