7. The Blue – est $23.8 million

The Blue is the largest flawless vivid blue diamond in the world. It sold at auction in 2014 for a whopping $23.8 million dollars, simultaneously setting a world auction record of $2 million per carat for a diamond of this type. Described as ‘absolutely perfect’ and pure both ‘externally and internally’, The Blue is one of only three blue diamonds of 10 carats or more sold at auction in the last 10 years. Through to originate in South Africa The Blue has a pear cut and is extremely rare. The buyer was not publicised.

 

6. Ethereal Carolina Divine Paraiba Tourmaline – est $25-$125 million

The world’s largest Paraiba tourmaline has a price tag that matches its record. Its worth was estimated between $25 and $125 million, but the buyer of the gem would not share how much he actually paid. The stone is 191.87 carats and has been set into a necklace as of 2013. Paraiba tourmalines are very rare, and named after the area in Brazil where they are mined. Rare for its colour, as well as for its magnificent size, this is one jewel that won’t soon be forgotten.
