7 Beauty Products That Will Save You Thousands Every Year

Affordable beauty products that save you thousands annually.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t always have the money or time to get to a beautician or hairdresser on a regular basis.

Plus it costs a fortune these days! I’ve had friends who spend up to $400 in one sitting at the hairdresser to get their six-weekly ‘maintenance’. That’s crazy money!

So, here’s my pick of 7 beauty products that will SAVE you money. In fact, we have worked out exactly how much they will save you over the course of a year! Sometimes it does pay to invest in good products that will do the job for you just as well at home!

1. A Good Set of Clippers

If you have boys in your house, then clippers are a wonderful investment to make — especially for little boys (whose haircuts were costing $25 each!). I just learned a few tricks of the trade on Youtube – and you save big! My tips on buying clippers is to invest in a good pair up front (a bad set of clippers are just frustrating!). Make sure you oil them regularly, clean and put them away carefully every time – and they should last you years and years!

Potential Yearly Savings: If you are paying $25 per haircut every six weeks or so, that’s $225 per person, per year!

My Pick: Wahl Colourpro Clipper Kit

Hair clipper with colour-coded cutting guides for easy styling at home.

Available from Recreate Yourself — $91.95

2. A Home Waxing Kit

There is nothing like a fresh wax from a professional! And believe me, I’ve had my share of waxing disasters! BUT, like everything else, with practise, waxing is a great skill to learn, and doing it yourself will save you so much money. With most women waxing say their legs, foo foo and moustache every six weeks, that really adds up!

Potential Yearly Savings:

  • Brazillian waxes usually cost about $50 every six weeks, so that would be $430 per year.
  • Leg waxes are usually around $75 every six weeks, so that would be $645 per year.
  • Moustache waxes for women are around $12 every six weeks, so that would be $103.
  • All in all, that’s $1178 per year!!!

My Pick: Caronlab Beginners And Home Use Pot Starter Kit

Car decals of family characters for a fun family vehicle look.

Available from Recreate Yourself — $137.75

3. Hair Touch Up Spray

If you are mad on getting your hair done at a hairdresser – no excuses – then perhaps look at extending that cost from six weeks to eight weeks with a hair touch up spray! It covers any re-growth by spraying colour where you part your hair. It then washes out really easily. It feels much like dry shampoo – and covers really really well. Especially great for girls (and boys) with dark hair.

Potential Yearly Savings: If you are paying $200 every six weeks to get your hair done – and extend that to eight weeks using this spray, you can save $420 per year!

My Pick: Joico Tint Shot Root Concealer

Available from Recreate Yourself — $24.65

4. Gel Nail Polish

Getting your nails done is not cheap at all. Plus you have to put nail polish over it to complete the look. You also have to get it cleaned at least once or twice a month. What I do is I get my nails cleaned once a month and just buy some quality nail polish that will last two years perhaps because you will just have to use a very very small amount each time. I buy lots of it since it just costs around $20 or less. And I just change my nail colours as often as I want!

Potential Yearly Savings: If you pay around $40 to have your nails cleaned, buffed, shaped and coloured, and you do it twice a month, that’s $960 per year — and that’s equivalent to around 50 pieces of nail polish (or more if you buy the cheaper ones!)

My Pick: L’Or’al Paris Infallible Gel Nail Polish

Available from Recreate Yourself — $12.95

5. Home Eyelash and Eyebrow Dye Kit

I always want my eyebrows neat and my eyelashes looking sexy every time I go out for a nightout or a simple grocery shopping (lol!). So going to a beautician to get all these done is a hassle. What I do is I just buy a dual eyelash and eyebrow kit and carefully do it myself, and I’m on my way to just brushing my eyebrows and curling my lashes when I wake up in the morning!

Potential Yearly Savings: If you spend around $30 for both eyelash and eyebrow tinting, and it’s good for four weeks, that’s $360 per year.

My Pick: 1000 Hour Eyelash & Brow Dye Kit

Eyelash and brow dye kit for quick, safe, and long-lasting colour at home.

Available from Beauty Heaven — $18.95
