16. High levels of the hormone ‘Oestrogen’ and ‘Relaxin’ cause the ligaments in your body to relax and stretch to accommodate baby, and help get him or her OUT!

 

17.  It is quite often for your hair to fall out after the birth of your baby.  During pregnancy, the increased oestrogen in your body prevents ‘hair fall’.  So you are just losing all the hair you would of lost – in the last nine months.

18. Your unborn baby gets the best of all the nutrients from the food you eat, and this is why quite often women can be low on iron during pregnancy.  However your doctor can prescribe iron tablets that are safe to take in pregnancy.

 

19. Some women have a dark ‘butterfly’ shaped rash on their faces during pregnancy.  The ‘Mask of Pregnancy’ only seems to affect some women, and no one knows why! (It does fade after birth!).

 

20. Like the butterfly rash above, some women also get a ‘Linea Nigra’ – that is a dark verticle line on their abdomen.  It tends to affect women with darker colouring – and fades after birth.
