4. “They’ll Be Here Before You Know It!”
This may be a well-meaning comment, designed to make a heavily pregnant mumma see the light at the end of the tunnel of pregnancy discomfort. But when people are saying it to you all day, it feels like torture. Plus, in the last weeks of pregnancy, every hour feels like it stretches forever, so this whole birth and labour thing that I’m waiting for seems very far away.
5. “When Are You Having The Next One?”
The next one? I think that you must be either mistaken or remarkably unhinged. Why would I be thinking about having another one when I’m still working on evicting this one? This comment gets grouped with people who say “Oh are you trying again for a girl/boy?” when they find out the gender. To be honest, I just want to get rid of this one right now, so stop pushing me.
6. “Hope You’re Enjoying Spending Time With Hubby”
Ah, another well meaning comment intended to make both mum and dad-to-be take note of the special time they have together. The only problem is that by the third trimester, mums-to-be are often riding the hormonal rollercoaster and wishing dad-to-be was lying on the tracks for getting them into this situation in the first place! Spending time with him? How about he just leaves me alone! But come back, I’m lonely.
7. “I Hardly Gained Any Weight When I Was Pregnant”
Anyone who says this, look, you’re on your own. That amount of stupid, that’s just asking for some pregnant lady violence right there.
