Much like onion and garlic, spices and herbs help to get your baby from bland baby food to a more expanded palate faster. By the age of 12 months, babies should have a taste for many different foods, and spices are the way to achieve this. Don’t add too much, and be careful with hot spices, but keep in mind that a variety of spices encourages more varied tastes later.

8. Yoghurt

The key with feeding your baby yoghurt is not to opt for flavoured, low fat or no fat yoghurts. The flavoured variety in particularly might be easier for babies to learn to like, but it’s packed with sugar and not recommended. Plain yoghurt is a good source of calcium and learning to love it early might make them more likely to opt for it later. Start by serving it plain, or pureeing it with some fruits.
