9. Keep Computers On Schedule
It’s more and more common now for kids to need computers to complete their homework, particularly in the older grades. However, we all know how easy it is to get distracted when using a computer, which is why it’s so important to keep computer use on a schedule. Have your child explain what they’ll be using the computer for, and how long they think they’ll need, then hold them to it. This is important when you have more than one child of course, but even if you only have one child that needs to use the computer, it’s a way to supervise them and make sure they’re keeping on track with their study.
10. Remember Typing Skills
It can be tempting to help your child out with aspects of their homework that you think is too hard, but doing so can really deprive them of the ability to learn. This is particularly true when it comes to typing. Parents often quickly type up their child’s work to save them the trouble of doing it, after all, it’s hardly difficult to type something when you’re a skilled typist as most adults today are. But not letting your child learn typing skills, particularly touch typing, can have a detrimental effect on their learning future. These are the digital natives of the future, and typing is now as important as handwriting ever was.
